Frequently asked questions

What are waist beads?

Waist beads are traditional strands of beads worn around the waist or hips, rooted in West African culture. They're used for body adornment, tracking body changes, celebrating milestones, and self-love/confidence practices. Today they're also loved simply as a stylish accessory worn under or over clothing.

How do I know what size to order?

Measure around your waist (or hips, if that's where you plan to wear them) with a soft tape measure, keeping it snug but not tight. Compare that number to our size chart on each product page. If you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort.

Do you offer plus-size or extended sizing?

Yes — extended sizing is available on all our waist beads at no extra cost. We don't believe fit should come with an upcharge.

Are waist beads adjustable?

Our waist beads are made with a secure tie closure rather than a clasp, so they're custom-tied to your measurement for a snug, stay-in-place fit. This also means they can be gently untied and re-tied if your size changes slightly.

Can I wear waist beads in the shower, while sleeping, or exercising?

Most of our waist beads are designed for everyday wear, including light activity and sleep. We recommend removing stretch/elastic styles before swimming or heavy workouts to preserve elasticity, and pattern this from care instructions included with your order.
